Governed methodology for regime-aware capital

A complete account of how MSIIA systems think and how they are constrained — regime classification, multi-signal consensus, exposure governance, execution discipline, crisis protocol, and audit-grade disclosure. Risk cannot be eliminated. It is measured, bounded, and governed.

Operating Doctrine

Three commitments govern every system in the suite. They order the logic hierarchy: structural classification first, verification second, portfolio release only after governance checks are satisfied.

Methodological Posture

How the system thinks

DOCTRINE — THREE COMMITMENTS
I.

Regime Before Signal

Regime context determines whether a signal deserves attention at all. The IRDM engine classifies prevailing market structure — trending, defensive, or neutral — before any signal is permitted to influence exposure.

STRUCTURAL CLASSIFICATION
II.

Verification As A Layer

Verification and defense are decision layers, not afterthoughts. Signals pass through regime, consensus, event, and defense gates before capital is allowed to move. No single signal source controls the outcome.

MULTI-GATE RELEASE
III.

Portfolio Over Sleeve

Single sleeves are not enough. Allocation quality depends on cross-sleeve interaction, concentration control, and aggregate drawdown governance. Portfolio governance decides how opportunity becomes capital release.

AGGREGATE GOVERNANCE

System Architecture

Each layer performs a distinct accountability function. The flow is unidirectional — no layer may bypass the constraints set by the layer above it.

The architecture stack defines authority, not opinion. Each layer must clear its own governance constraints before passing authority to the next.

Control Architecture

Every allocation decision passes through a sequential risk gate before execution. No signal bypasses the review chain.

Research Lifecycle

Research is organized around validation, out-of-sample thinking, and controlled review rather than retrospective storytelling. No model reaches deployment without clearing every phase.

Walk-Forward Discipline

From research to gated deployment

LIFECYCLE — PHASES 01 THROUGH 04
Phase 01 · Research

Hypothesis & Model Design

Candidate models are built against regime-segmented history, never against a single favourable era.

  • Regime-segmented datasets
  • Structural, not curve-fit, features
  • Documented assumptions
Phase 02 · Validation

Walk-Forward Testing

Out-of-sample walk-forward validation across regimes, with cost, slippage, and latency assumptions applied.

  • Out-of-sample windows
  • Cost & slippage modelling
  • Regime stress scenarios
Phase 03 · Governance

Committee Review

Formal review of validation evidence, risk envelope, and portfolio interaction before any release authority is granted.

  • Risk envelope sign-off
  • Correlation & capacity review
  • Documented decision record
Phase 04 · Deployment

Gated Release

Deployment begins at reduced size under enhanced monitoring. Full allocation requires sustained live conformance.

  • Staged sizing tranches
  • Live-vs-model conformance checks
  • Out-of-cycle review triggers

Core Pillars

Each pillar represents a distinct control domain. Together they define the boundaries within which the system is permitted to operate.

06 Control Domains Risk-Gated Release Capital Preservation Review Boundary

Risk Governance Framework

Six dimensions of risk governance

RISK PILLARS — 01 THROUGH 06
01
ACTIVE

Drawdown Discipline

Tiered intervention rules engage automatically as peak-to-trough depth increases. Exposure is clipped or suspended before losses compound beyond defined thresholds.

HIGH PRIORITY
02
ENFORCED

Exposure Limits

Gross and net exposure are bounded per sleeve, sector, and aggregate portfolio. No single position or regime cluster can breach the allocation ceiling without triggering a review gate.

HIGH PRIORITY
03
MONITORED

Regime Risk

Regime classifiers determine whether current market conditions warrant full, reduced, or suspended deployment. Structural transitions reduce position size before signal confirmation is required.

MEDIUM PRIORITY
04
ENFORCED

Correlation Control

Rolling correlation matrices identify concentration risk across held positions. When inter-system correlation exceeds defined limits, the risk gate blocks new entries until conditions normalise.

MEDIUM PRIORITY
05
MONITORED

Execution Risk

Deliberate execution windows and slippage budgets prevent microstructure distortion. Orders outside approved timing or cost tolerance are deferred rather than forced through unfavourable conditions.

STANDARD PRIORITY
06
CRITICAL

Crisis Defense

Dedicated crisis protocols activate under elevated volatility, correlation shock, or liquidity stress events. The system can enter a defensive posture, pausing exposure until conditions normalise.

CRITICAL PRIORITY

No allocation bypasses the risk boundary.

Crisis Response

Each protocol state has a defined activation condition, system response, and re-entry requirement. No manual discretion overrides the protocol sequence.

06 Crisis States Sequential Response No Manual Override Re-Entry Required

Defensive Protocol

Six-state crisis protocol

CRISIS PROTOCOL — STATES 01–06
STATE 01

Elevated Volatility

Realised volatility exceeds the defined ceiling. Position sizing scales down proportionally and new entries require enhanced signal confirmation.

RESPONSESIZE REDUCTION — 25%
STATE 02

Correlation Shock

Sudden inter-system correlation rises above the defined cap. The risk gate blocks correlated new entries and existing positions are reviewed for concentration breach.

RESPONSEENTRY BLOCK — CORRELATED
STATE 03

Liquidity Stress

Market depth deteriorates below minimum execution thresholds. Pending orders are cancelled and open positions remain held unless stop criteria are met.

RESPONSEORDERS CANCELLED
STATE 04

Drawdown Breach

Portfolio drawdown exceeds the defined threshold. The system enters mandatory defensive posture and no new exposure is permitted until recovery conditions are cleared.

RESPONSEFULL DEFENSIVE POSTURE
STATE 05

Execution Freeze

Slippage or execution cost exceeds defined tolerance across multiple signals. The system suspends pending execution until environment normalisation and review confirmation.

RESPONSEEXECUTION SUSPENDED
STATE 06

Recovery Re-Entry

Staged re-entry protocol follows a crisis state. Exposure resumes in defined tranches only after minimum recovery conditions are met and governance review is complete.

RESPONSESTAGED RE-ENTRY

Crisis protocols define defensive response logic but do not eliminate market, liquidity, execution, or capital-loss risk.
